2. Hosting
This website is hosted via GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (a company of Microsoft Corporation). Delivery is handled through a content delivery network (including Fastly). When the website is accessed, the hosting provider automatically collects information in so-called server log files that your browser transmits. These are, in particular:
- IP address of the requesting device,
- date and time of access,
- name and URL of the file accessed,
- amount of data transferred,
- browser and operating system used,
- referrer URL (the previously visited page).
This processing serves to ensure trouble-free operation and the security of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of the website). In the course of this, data is also transferred to servers in the USA. GitHub, Inc. / Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, the EU Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses are used as appropriate safeguards within the meaning of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR.
3. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies and does not employ any analytics, tracking, or advertising services. No usage profiles are created.
4. Contact by email
If you contact me by email, the information you provide (email address, name, and the content of your message) is stored and processed for the purpose of handling your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (initiation or performance of a contract) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). This data is deleted once it is no longer required to achieve the purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.
5. External links
This website contains links to external services (including ORCID, Google Scholar, LinkedIn). When you click such links, you leave this website; I have no influence over the data processing of the respective providers. The privacy policies of the respective providers apply.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- access to the data processed (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR).
An informal notice to the email address above is sufficient to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR); the competent authority includes the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Saxony-Anhalt (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz Sachsen-Anhalt).
